Imogen Holst was an English composer, conductor, teacher and writer, born in 1907 in London and beginning her career in the interwar period within the classical and choral music traditions. Her work combined mid-20th-century classical idioms with folk-influenced choral writing and educational arrangements, and over her career she moved between composing, arranging, conducting, teaching and editorial projects that tied her to the British classical and choral scene.
