Elias Parish Alvars

Elias Parish Alvars was an English harpist and composer from Teignmouth, Devon, born in 1808 who began his professional career in the 1820s and worked within the Romantic instrumental tradition. He expanded the technical and expressive possibilities of the pedal harp through technically demanding compositions and European concert tours, contributing works to the harp repertoire and spending much of his later career in Vienna.
