Chuck D is an American hip hop artist from Long Island, New York, who began his career in the early 1980s and co-founded the group Public Enemy. His work is characterised by politically charged, socially conscious lyrics and a confrontational vocal delivery, often combined with dense sampling and production techniques that foregrounded commentary on race and politics in American society.
