Risë Stevens

Risë Stevens was an American operatic mezzo-soprano from New York whose professional career began in the 1930s and developed on major American and European opera stages. She was particularly associated with dramatic and lyric mezzo roles such as Carmen and later combined performance with teaching and arts administration, contributing to the training of younger singers.
