Sigismond Thalberg

Sigismond Thalberg was an Austrian composer and virtuoso pianist active in the early-to-mid 19th century Romantic era who rose to prominence as a concert performer and composer of piano music. Known for his operatic paraphrases, salon pieces and a 'three-hand' technique that created the illusion of three hands, his style combined lyrical melodies with virtuosic figurations and contributed to piano performance practice in the Romantic period.
