Steve Morse is an American guitarist from Hamilton, Ohio, who began his career in the 1970s as the founder of the Dixie Dregs and later led the Steve Morse Band before joining the rock band Deep Purple in the 1990s. His musical style blends instrumental rock, jazz fusion, country and classical influences, evolving from the improvisational, genre-crossing approach of his early ensemble to a greater emphasis on song-based rock and technical guitar composition.
