Francesco Canova da Milano

Francesco Canova da Milano was an Italian lutenist and composer of the Renaissance, born in Milan around 1497 and active in Italian courts and papal circles during the early 16th century. He composed fantasias, ricercars and intabulations characterised by intricate polyphony and idiomatic lute technique, and his works influenced later lute composition and the development of instrumental music in Renaissance Europe.
