Jonathan Harvey was a British composer born in Liverpool in 1939 who began his career in the 1960s and worked primarily in contemporary classical and electronic music. His work combined spectral techniques, electroacoustic processes and spiritual themes, and over his career he moved from serial and modernist approaches towards pieces that integrated live electronics and computer-assisted composition within the late 20th-century British contemporary classical scene.
