Sonny Fortune

Sonny Fortune was an American jazz saxophonist from Philadelphia who began his professional career in the 1960s and established himself in New York, working primarily in post-bop and modal jazz. His style combined robust post-bop phrasing with modal and free-jazz elements, frequent use of alto and soprano saxophone and flute, and he explored spiritual and Latin-influenced forms across the 1970s and later decades.
