Bertram Turetzky

Bertram Turetzky is an American double bassist who began his career in the 1950s and is associated with contemporary classical, free improvisation and experimental music. He expanded the technical and expressive possibilities of the double bass through the use of extended techniques, a substantial solo repertoire, collaborations with composers and improvisers, and pedagogical work, contributing to a redefinition of the instrument's role within modern classical and improvisatory contexts.
