Utah Phillips was an American folk singer, storyteller and labour activist from Cleveland, Ohio, who began performing in the folk revival and on labour circuits from the 1960s while working as a railroad worker and organiser. He blended traditional folk and protest song forms with storytelling and personal anecdotes about railroading and industrial organising, maintained ties to the Industrial Workers of the World, and remained a fixture in American folk and labour communities through recordings, radio shows and live performances.
