Benny Goodman and His Orchestra
Benny Goodman and His Orchestra were an American swing and big band ensemble formed in Chicago in the mid-1930s, emerging from the urban dance-band scene. Their repertoire combined swing-era dance numbers and arranged jazz pieces characterised by clarinet-led melodies, tight sectional writing and radio-friendly arrangements, and the group's use of integrated personnel and national broadcasts helped introduce jazz to wider American audiences.
