Lauritz Melchior

Lauritz Melchior was a Danish-born operatic tenor who began his career in the early 20th century and became closely associated with Germanic opera, particularly the heldentenor repertoire. Specialising in Wagnerian roles, he helped shape performance practices for heroic tenor parts and participated extensively in transatlantic opera between Europe and the United States during the mid-20th century.
