Wynton Kelly
Wynton Kelly was a Jamaican-born American jazz pianist who began his professional career in Brooklyn in the late 1940s and established himself in the 1950s within the hard bop and soul-jazz traditions. His playing combined a blues-rooted, swinging touch, lyrical improvisation and rhythmic comping that influenced accompanist techniques and helped define the sound of small-group hard bop and soul-jazz in the mid-20th century.
