Paul Ben-Haim

Paul Ben-Haim was a composer born in Munich who emigrated to Mandatory Palestine in the 1930s and established his career in Israeli classical music. His work blended late-Romantic and neo-classical techniques with Middle Eastern and Jewish melodic elements, progressively incorporating folk modes and modal harmonies across orchestral, chamber, choral and vocal repertoire that contributed to the formation of a distinct Israeli art-music tradition.
