Kidd Jordan is an American jazz saxophonist from New Orleans whose career began in the 1950s and encompasses work in post-bop, free jazz and avant-garde improvisation. His playing and compositions emphasised extended techniques, collective improvisation and a dialogue between traditional New Orleans elements and experimental approaches, and he was active as an educator shaping subsequent generations of musicians.
