Bobby McFerrin is an American vocalist and conductor who began his professional career in the late 1970s and is associated with jazz, a cappella, vocal improvisation and contemporary classical music. Using extended vocal techniques, body percussion and live improvisation, he has worked as a solo improviser, a cappella ensemble leader and conductor, collaborating across jazz, classical and world music and contributing to developments in vocal performance and audience interaction.
