Joe Maneri was an American jazz reed player and composer who began his career in the 1950s and worked primarily in avant-garde jazz and free improvisation. He explored microtonal tuning and extended techniques, developing a distinctive approach to pitch and improvisation which has been discussed in contexts of experimental jazz and contemporary improvised music.
