Umberto Giordano
Umberto Giordano was an Italian opera composer born in Foggia in 1867 who began his career in the late 19th century and is associated with the verismo movement. His operas, including Andrea Chénier and Fedora, exemplify verismo's emphasis on realistic narratives, intense vocal drama and direct orchestral colour, and he remained active into the early 20th century contributing to the Italian operatic repertoire.
