Arthur William Foote

Arthur William Foote was an American composer, organist and pianist born in Salem, Massachusetts in 1853 who began his career in the late 19th century and is associated with the Romantic classical tradition and the Boston music scene. His output, including chamber music, songs and organ works, reflects German Romantic influences and the idioms of the Second New England School, and he was active as a teacher and church musician in Boston, contributing to the professionalisation of American art music.
