Luís de Freitas Branco
Luís de Freitas Branco was a Portuguese composer and musicologist from Lisbon who began his career in the early 20th century, working primarily in classical genres such as orchestral, chamber and choral music. Influenced by late-Romantic and early modernist currents, his work moved between richly chromatic textures and more restrained neoclassical forms, and he played a role in the development of Portugal's art-music institutions and pedagogy.
