Charles-Simon Catel
Charles-Simon Catel was a French composer and music educator, born in 1773, who established his career in Paris at the turn of the 19th century composing within the classical and early Romantic traditions. He produced operatic, sacred and instrumental works and served on the staff of the Paris Conservatoire, where his harmony and composition textbooks played a role in shaping French musical pedagogy during the Napoleonic and Restoration periods.
