Steve Coleman

Steve Coleman is an American saxophonist and composer from Chicago who emerged as a bandleader in the early 1980s and is associated with the M-Base collective and contemporary jazz. His music blends complex rhythmic structures, improvisation and elements of funk, African diasporic musical traditions and bebop, evolving through conceptual projects that explore rhythmic systems and compositional frameworks within contemporary jazz.
