François‐Adrien Boïeldieu
François-Adrien Boieldieu was a French composer born in Rouen in 1775 who established his career at the turn of the 19th century composing operas, especially works in the opéra comique genre. His music is characterised by elegant melody and clear orchestration, and he contributed to the development of the French opéra comique tradition during the Napoleonic and Restoration periods, helping to shape stylistic currents in subsequent French opera.
