Public Announcement are an American R&B group formed in Chicago in 1991 initially as the backing band for a rising R&B singer, and they are associated with new jack swing and hip hop soul. Their sound combined tight harmonised vocals with programmed beats and contemporary R&B production, and after the departure of the vocalist who fronted their early work they continued releasing music that reflected shifts in 1990s R&B and the Chicago urban music scene.
