مولانا جلال الدین محمد بلخی رومی was a 13th-century Persian poet and Sufi mystic from Balkh who spent much of his life in Konya, and whose verse has been extensively adapted into Sufi, devotional and Persian classical musical forms. His poetry has informed musical practices such as the Mevlevi samā' ceremony, Persian classical vocal traditions and South Asian qawwali, with recitation and musical settings evolving across Ottoman, Persian and South Asian cultural contexts.
