Lee Morgan

Lee Morgan was an American jazz trumpeter from Philadelphia who began his professional career in the early 1950s and became associated with the hard bop movement. His playing blended bebop technique with blues and gospel inflections and evolved through the 1950s and 1960s into recordings that incorporated small-group improvisation, soul-jazz elements and modal approaches, placing him within the cultural context of postwar American jazz.
