Anthony Holborne

Anthony Holborne was an English composer and lutenist active in the late 16th century, associated with the Elizabethan musical milieu and known for publishing collections of consort and lute pieces in London. His music is characterised by contrapuntal textures and dance-derived forms such as pavans, galliards and almaines, intended for consort and domestic performance and reflecting the courtly and popular dance practices of his time.
