Rhys Chatham

Rhys Chatham is an American composer and guitarist who began his career in New York City in the 1970s, working at the intersection of minimalist composition and the downtown no wave and punk scenes. His work blends minimalism and rock through sustained tones, alternate tunings and dense textures, evolving into large-scale compositions for multiple electric guitars that bridged the experimental avant-garde and the emerging punk-derived rock underground.
