Sam Bush is an American mandolinist from Bowling Green, Kentucky, who began his professional career in the early 1970s as a founding member of the progressive bluegrass band New Grass Revival. His playing and songwriting blend traditional bluegrass instrumentation with elements of jazz, rock and country, and over several decades he has expanded the mandolin's role through genre-crossing collaborations and contributions to the development of progressive bluegrass.
