John “Billy” VerPlanck
John 'Billy' VerPlanck was an American jazz trombonist, arranger and composer who began his career in the late 1940s and was active in New York's jazz and studio scenes. He wrote and arranged for small groups and big bands, blending bebop-influenced lines with sophisticated orchestral textures and contributing arrangements for recordings and broadcasts.
