World Saxophone Quartet

World Saxophone Quartet are an American jazz ensemble formed in New York City in 1977 as a saxophone-only group drawing on avant-garde and free jazz as well as chamber jazz approaches. Over their career they combined composed arrangements with collective improvisation, incorporated blues, funk and world-music influences, and at times expanded their sound by adding percussion, rhythm sections or vocal elements.
