The Steve Lacy Quintet

The Steve Lacy Quintet were an American jazz ensemble formed in New York in the late 1950s, centred on soprano saxophonist Steve Lacy and working within modern jazz and free jazz idioms. Their musical approach emphasised original compositions and interpretations of modern jazz repertoire, evolving towards more experimental and European avant‑garde influences as Lacy's career progressed.
