Jean‐Joseph de Mondonville

Jean-Joseph de Mondonville was a French composer and violinist born in Narbonne in 1711 who built his career in the mid-18th-century Parisian musical scene, composing operas and sacred works within the French Baroque tradition. His music combined French operatic conventions with Italianate melodic and orchestral influences, notably in his opéras and grands motets, and formed part of the repertoire and stylistic debates of mid-18th-century Paris.
