Norman Treigle was an American bass-baritone from New Orleans who began his professional operatic career in the 1950s, performing in both standard repertoire and 20th-century contemporary works. His career featured intense portrayals of dramatic and villainous characters, a dark, flexible voice and a sustained focus on character-driven roles that contributed to performances and recordings expanding the American operatic repertoire.
