Kurt Böhme

Kurt Böhme (1908–1989) was a German operatic bass who began his professional career in the late 1920s and was primarily associated with German opera repertoire, especially the works of Richard Wagner and Richard Strauss. Noted for a powerful low register and a versatility that ranged from comic to dramatic bass roles, he sustained a long career at major German opera houses and contributed to mid-20th-century performance traditions in Wagnerian and Strauss repertoire.
