Federico Moreno Torroba was a Spanish composer and conductor born in Madrid who began his career in the early 20th century and is best known for his work in zarzuela and compositions for classical guitar. His musical style fused traditional Spanish melodic and rhythmic elements with late-Romantic orchestration, and his output, including zarzuelas, orchestral pieces and numerous solo and chamber works for classical guitar, broadened the instrument's repertoire during the 20th century.
