Ferdinand David

Ferdinand David was a 19th-century German violinist, teacher and composer born in Hamburg who established his career in Leipzig in the 1830s within the Romantic classical tradition. He wrote concertos, chamber works and pedagogical études, contributed to violin technique and teaching, and premiered contemporary repertoire for the instrument, helping to expand its Romantic-era solo literature.
