Franz Xaver Richter

Franz Xaver Richter was a Moravian composer of the late Baroque and early Classical periods, born in Holleschau (now Holešov, Moravia) in 1709 and active from the mid-18th century. Associated with the Mannheim school and later serving as Kapellmeister in Strasbourg, he composed symphonies, chamber music and sacred choral works that illustrate the transition from Baroque contrapuntal techniques to Classical forms and expressive clarity.
