Paul Gonsalves
Paul Gonsalves was an American jazz tenor saxophonist from Brockton, Massachusetts, who began his professional career in the 1940s and worked chiefly in big band and swing contexts. His robust, blues-inflected tenor style and facility with extended solos helped bridge swing-era big band traditions with post-war modern jazz developments and influenced the live performance practices of mid-20th-century jazz ensembles.
