Hermann Abendroth

Hermann Abendroth was a German conductor born in Erfurt in 1883 who began his career in the early 20th century and worked primarily in the orchestral and operatic branches of the classical tradition. He specialised in German Romantic and classical repertoire, holding long posts in Cologne and Leipzig and participating in the reconstruction of musical institutions in Germany after the Second World War.
