David Popper

David Popper was a Bohemian cellist and composer born in Prague in 1843 who came to prominence in the late 19th century within the Romantic classical tradition. He composed numerous solo works, chamber pieces and pedagogical études that combine Romantic expressive language with Central European and Hungarian influences, and his studies remain widely used in cello teaching.
