Sir Hamilton Harty

Sir Hamilton Harty was an Irish conductor, composer and accompanist, born in Hillsborough, County Down in 1879, who began his career as an organist and accompanist before establishing himself in the classical orchestral sphere. His musical style combined late-Romantic orchestration with an interest in Irish song and chamber forms, and through his conducting and arrangements he influenced British and Irish concert repertoire in the early 20th century.
