Nicholas Maw

Nicholas Maw was an English composer born in Grantham, Lincolnshire in 1935 whose career began in the mid-20th century and who worked primarily in contemporary classical music. His output ranged from orchestral and chamber works to vocal and stage pieces, characterised by a lyrical, harmonically rich language and an evolution from modernist techniques towards more expansive, tonal structures that intersected with late-20th-century British musical life.
