Jimmy Lyons

Jimmy Lyons was an American alto saxophonist from Jersey City, New Jersey, who began his professional career in the 1950s and worked primarily within avant-garde and free jazz contexts. His playing drew on bebop phrasing and melodic sensibilities while extending into intense, often highly structured free improvisation, contributing to the development of late 20th-century avant-garde jazz.
