Orazio Vecchi

Orazio Vecchi was an Italian composer born in Modena around 1550 who was active in the late Renaissance and is chiefly associated with secular vocal genres such as madrigals and the madrigal comedy. His music blends polyphonic madrigal writing with theatrical and often comic elements—most notably in his madrigal comedies—placing him within the Italian secular vocal tradition and foreshadowing later developments in staged vocal drama.
