Hubert Selby, Jr.

Hubert Selby Jr. was an American writer from Brooklyn, New York, who began publishing fiction in the late 1960s and is associated with transgressive fiction and urban realism. His work is characterised by fragmented, stream-of-consciousness prose and unflinching portrayals of addiction, poverty and violence, later addressing themes of redemption, and several of his novels were adapted for film.
