David Helfgott

David Helfgott is an Australian classical pianist born in Melbourne in 1947 who began piano studies as a child and pursued a professional career in classical performance. Known for his affinity with Romantic repertoire and for a career interrupted by severe mental-health difficulties, he later returned to public performance and was the subject of the film Shine, which brought renewed public attention to his life and work.
