Mercury Rev are an American rock band formed in Buffalo, New York, in 1989, emerging from the city's alternative scene and associated with indie, experimental and psychedelic rock. Their sound shifted from noisy, experimental origins to incorporate orchestral, psychedelic and chamber-pop arrangements alongside electronic textures, reflecting a move toward expansive, atmospheric compositions over their career.
