Swervedriver are an English alternative rock band formed in Oxford in 1989, emerging from the early 1990s shoegaze scene with a loud, guitar-driven sound. Their music blended dense, layered guitar textures and propulsive rhythms with elements of indie and American alternative rock, later moving towards more melodic and expansive arrangements across subsequent releases and reunions, situating them within the UK indie/shoegaze cultural context.
